Pycnocaris-Chagoae new genus new species a new shrimp from the Chagos Archipelago Decapoda Natantia Gnathophyllidae
- A shrimp found on the reefs of the Chagos Archipelago in the Ocean central Indian , is described and placed in a new genus of the family Gnathophyllidae . A key to distinguish the genera of this family is given . The species Pycnocaris chago_ shows many similarities with shrimp from subfamily Pontoniinae the Palaemonidae family. These similarities between the families are discussed, the host of this shrimp, which is probably commensal and probably an echinus , is still unknown.
