Reef terrace 10m Middle Brother

Description
This is an area with rich coral cover with high diversity. This is a scene across the reef terrace towards the drop-off which descends to the steep reef slope beyond. There are a mixture of forms from tables to boulder corals, indicating a later stage in succession following the warming event of 1998. Several of the corals in the foreground are dead and are covered with encrusting red algae which are a normal part of a healthy reef. Live coral cover is optimum here being perhaps 40 to 60% of the substrate.
