Eagle Island post-COTS algal bloom 10-15m

Description
This is an area of Eagle Island on the Great Chagos Bank which had been destroyed in 2012 by a plague of crown of thorns starfish. This plague was documented: the starfish plague was happening at the time of our visit, and they killed 99% of the corals in this area, which had been previously dominated by staghorn forms. Now, three years later, the skeletons remain only in greatly reduced form and are covered with both red and green algae.
