Description

The second research expedition of the PCI programme was designed to build on the first research expedition (PCI Exped I), retaining the focus on the role that reef sharks play in regulating reef ecosystems and how they may impact the abundance, diet and condition of reef fishes. This expedition also requested permission from the UK Government to expand the research programme to include Diego Garcia. This request by the science team was made due to an apparent increase in illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in the BIOT Marine Reserve.
