Description
This expedition (Darwin 2015) is the third of three designed to help deliver the objectives of a Darwin Initiative project to Strengthen the World’s Largest Marine Protected Area, Chagos Archipelago, funded by Defra (UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs). The three year project aims to strengthen the Chagos Marine Protected Area by providing scientific knowledge for effective management, and develop a strategy that engages the support of potential stakeholders through outreach, education and engagement. The legacy will be sound management and increased value of what is currently the world’s largest no-take Marine Protected Area and a unique and globally important reference site.
