Description
In 1786 Lieut Archibald Blair conducted an expedition to the Chagos on behalf of the East India Company. The purpose was to gather specific information about Diego Garcia where the company had an interest in establishing a settlement. Blaire collected useful information on the atoll including dangers and safe points of harbour. Some surveys were also made surveys of the flora of the isalnds.
