



Grey Reef Shark
Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos
Description
Reef shark most readily identifiable by caudal fin with broad black posterior margin; first dorsal fin plain or with white edge in some individuals; other fin tips blackish. Body grey above, white below.
Life history: Viviparous, placental with 1-6 pups in a litter. Gestation period about 12 months. Size at birth 45-60 cm total length, with maximum TL of 230-255 cm.
Distribution: Widespread coastal-pelagic in the central Pacific and westwards to the western Indian Ocean.
